Letter to Baghdad

Aware of the numerous wars and suffering around the world, Mika regrets this and attempts to cheer up people with her music and songs.

The current situation in Iraq does not leave anyone ignorant or indifferent. People die, people suffer… Mika brings up the topic of war in order to once again emphasize its importance. Revenge that occupied the minds of half or over half of the population results in numerous deaths and a never-ending conflict.

Unfortunately, when soldiers are called to serve in the army, they leave behind their families and loved ones. The duty they have to protect their country produces suffering for young ladies who say “goodbye” to loved ones.

In the patriotic “Letter to Baghdad” Mika is writing a letter to young man who left to fight in Iraq. Unable to believe he is gone, her heart rebels. The saddest part is that when they were still at home their two souls never revealed what was hidden deep inside. So, now when he is gone, she swears that whenever he returns she will not hide the passion in her heart. Life is too short to do otherwise. Having made a mistake once the young lady does not want to waste time. The suffering of her heart is compared with the physical pain the soldier goes through. They are both hurt but the power of love keeps them alive.

In her song Mika is talking about a relationship and the feelings that thousands of others are still going through in Iraq. Sad, though at the same time striking, this powerful song brings strength, compassion and optimism to the soldiers who face challenges every day on their path. Never forgotten and never betrayed.
